01What we collect
Nothing. Hushdoc has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The app does not send your documents, their contents, their names or anything about how you use it to its maker or to anyone else.
02What stays on your device
- Your documents stay where they are. Hushdoc opens, edits and saves them in place, on your device.
- The list of your files (recent files, starred files and documents found on the device) is kept in an encrypted database inside the app. The key to it is kept in the system’s secure storage.
- Settings such as Day or Night.
Deleting the app removes its database and settings. Your documents are not deleted.
03Permissions and why
- All files access (Android): lets Hushdoc list the PDFs, documents, sheets and slides already on your phone, and save your edits back to the same file. It is used for nothing else, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
- Files and folders you choose (Mac, iPhone, iPad, Windows): Hushdoc sees only the files and folders you pick, or send to it with “Open in”.
- Camera: the Scan feature uses the system’s own document scanner. Scans are saved on your device.
04On-device AI and downloads
Text recognition, summaries and translation run on your device, using the system’s own models: on Android, Google ML Kit and Gemini Nano (AICore); on Apple devices, Apple’s Vision, Apple Intelligence and Translation. Your document text is not sent anywhere for this.
Some of these parts are downloaded once by the system, not by Hushdoc: Google Play services may download the document scanner and translation language packs from Google, and Apple may download Apple Intelligence and translation languages. This is why the Android app has the internet permission. Hushdoc itself does not connect to any server, and the usage-report upload that Google’s ML Kit normally includes has been removed from the app.
05Purchases
Every normal tool is free. Hushdoc Pro, a one-time purchase, is not on sale yet. When it is, payment is handled by Google Play or the App Store; Hushdoc receives only a confirmation that you bought it, never your payment details.
06Children
Hushdoc is a general document tool and is not directed at children. It does not collect data from anyone, including children.
